“It always comes back to an acoustic guitar and a good song. Inject some of your soul and share it to see who you can touch.”

The muse started in “a cold little northern town”, namely Prince George  BC. Now he is on the Vancouver coast and the muse continues. In terms of output Primus has never slowed or stopped. His alternative/folk musing has been inspired by diverse influences from James Taylor, the Beatles, Elton John to Neil Young, Bon Iver and Iron & Wine.

From his early days on a compilation record for 1040 KICKS (CKXY) with his song Alien, his journey encompassed important musical milestones including opening for Canadian Rock Legend Burton Cummings as well as international recording artist Paul Janz, to opening the Western Canada Summer Games with his song, The Way.

Equilibrium is the newest release by Primus. Partnered with his son O’Neil, they jammed and shared ideas, dusted off older songs that hadn’t been recorded, melding together an inspirational set of 12 songs. As always the music is fresh, inspired and timeless while still addressing current matters of the heart and soul.

The opening track, “Timeless” is just that, timeless beauty. Followed by the tongue-in-cheek “I Love My Gun”  and the driving, “Slow and Steady” the album doesn’t disappoint or miss a beat. “Get Outta Hollywood” is the most acerbic of the messages with it’s Hollywood “duster” vibe.  Everything in between is worth many a listen on an emotional and melodic level. The album wraps up with the title track “Equilibrium”, a song of warning and hope delivered in an upbeat package complete with 3 part harmony. You don’t want to miss any of this project, a labour of love, synergy and inspiration.
